Back in 1994 I was working a couple nights a week as an aide at The Adult Diploma Program in Santa Maria. I was talking with one of the teachers about her education and student teaching. She told me that she had done her student teaching in Walnut, CA. She was sure I had never heard of it.
I told her that there was a school in Walnut named after my grandfather: Cyrus J. Morris. The Morris Matadors.
She just looked at me shocked and told me that that’s where she had done her student teaching.
